Pictures are for Printing
It’s a simple enough concept: You take the pictures, and eventually you’ll get around to printing them. Except…most people don’t. If you’re anything like us, you’re running around from one day to the next, completing task after task, pushing it back further onto your to-do list. Suddenly, it’s been a whole year, and that tiny newborn is now a one year old. Or that cute five year old is now 6 and a half—and just lost their first tooth! We’re saying this because we care: Don’t forget to print out your photos!
While we all take thousands of pictures on our phone, how often do you actually look back at them? Other than the ones you chose for you home screen and lock screen, most photos tend to get buried. However, when you print a photo and hang it on your wall, it gives that photo life! The intentionality of framing and hanging it in it’s own spot seems to give it even more meaning. Chances are, even when your baby is past the newborn stage, or that five year old is now a teenager, those photos will stay hanging up (maybe on a different wall) because that print has sentimental value.
“A lot of the photos of me and my siblings’ early childhoods were taken on point-and-shoot film cameras. My parents kept these photos in photo albums and many, many boxes stacked up in our storage closet. As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that the photos I’ve seen the most are the ones that were printed rather than the ones that have been stored digitally. We haven’t gotten around to downloading them on a digital frame, or uploading them to a cloud storage service, but we do still pull out all those photo albums to look at. While I’m grateful for digital copies of photos, I’ve been making it my mission to print my photos as I go so I don’t forget about those memories.” -Camera Shy Photographer, Lehi studio
“One of my first newborn sessions ever called a week later saying that their baby passed away from SIDS. So, we printed them a few photos that they could use for the funeral. It is so sad, but it reminded me how important it is to have printed pictures, and to have easy access to them.” -Camera Shy Photographer, Gardner Village studio
“It’s always been my thought that if you’re spending the money to get nice photos, the quality of your prints should match. My partner and I finally put up pictures on our wall, and they remind me of what really matters every time I look at them. I hope these photos can be a keepsake that I can pass down from generation to generation.” -Camera Shy Photographer, Lehi studio
